News Sam Spiegel Labs has a new director This year we are proud to welcome Mor Eldar as new director. She will commence her position in November, taking over from Aurit Zamir. Ms. Eldar is a seasoned content VP, with more than two decades of experience in senior management in the Film and TV industries. From launching and directing the Holon Cinematheque, through VP of programing and commissioning editor of films at YES Satellite TV and heading theatrical marketing and distribution at LEV Cinemas, she is highly experienced in content and strategy and will be a real asset to the JSFL.

News Tribeca Film Festival! "The Future" is in Tribeca! Congratulations to school and Lab alum Noam Kaplan whose film "The Future" will premiere at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival. Written and directed by Kaplan, and produced by alumni Aurit Zamir and Yoav Roeh of Gum Films, "The Future" is a political drama developed at our 2017 Lab which will screen as part of the International Narrative Competition.

News Five years in a row...! We are on the Hollywood Reporter list of best film schools outside the US JSFS is the only Israeli film school on the prestigeous list. Among the reasons sited for the listing are the School's resiliance during Covid, signing an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, and our upcoming move to our new state of the art campus in central Jerusalem.

Award First Prize - "The Last Niggun" by Raphael Pomeranz Winning pitch at the Haifa International Film Festival student pitching forum! Our student Raphael Pomeranz won the 25,000 NIS first prize award from the Gesher Foundation for his film "The Last Niggun". Two additional students took part in the online pitching event. SO proud of the work our students are doing!

News Plenty of premieres and winnings for school graduates at the Doc Aviv International Documentary Film Festival Doc Aviv 2021 The International Documentary Film Festival in Tel Aviv took place this year between July 1-10 and presented an impressive series of seven films created, produced and directed by school graduates: "The treatment". Director and producer Zvi Lanzman co-producer: Uri Sternfeld The Israeli competition wins the Jury Prize in the amount of NIS 10,000 "Blue box." Director: Michal Weitz Co-producer: Uri Shamali The Israeli competition wins the research award in the amount of NIS 7,000 for Lily Yudinsky and Michal Weitz "To be Anat Kam." Co-producer: Omri Ozard (Israeli competition) "Nelson's Last War." Director and Producer: Avi Maor Marzouk (Israeli Competition) "Anat Gov, on life and death." Producer: Autumn Maron Morag "Emergency squad". Directed and produced by Idan Glickslig "Shlomo Bar - Documentary Musical". Director and producer: Gilad Inbar Two students from Pitching Dokaviv School also won: A production grant from the Gesher Foundation for Multicultural Cinema in the amount of NIS 20,000 The Traveler Fabio Zilberman Jungle Sound Grant for Sound Editing At home | Rachel Schatz Grants in the total amount of NIS 33,000 were awarded to graduation films intended for Pitching Dokaviv for students In the Docaviv Pitching for Documentary Final Films, which was held at Beit Ariela on Tuesday, July 6, 11 final films from eight colleges and vocational schools participated.

News Big wins! The prize for Best Film in the Israeli competition of the TAU Student Film Festival was awarded to "Siba" by our student Donna Hawa. And the prize for Best Direction for an independent short went to alumna Hila Royzenman for her film "Motherland".

News Best Student Film at the Haifa Film Festival was awarded to "Ordinary" by Gil Fermon Really proud of our alum Gil Fermon whose "Ordinary" won First Prize at the 2022 Haifa Film Festival. The jury stated that this is a film that "shows the continued harsh reality of youngsters in Israel with a deft hand, rhythmic editing, adept shooting and tight acting. The filmmaker is derserving of praise".
