News Successful end to the ninth edition of the Sam Spiegel International Film Lab The ninth edition of the prestigious Sam Spiegel International Film Lab held its annual closing event, in a live in-person happening from Jerusalem. At the festive awards ceremony the inspiring jury awarded the top prize to Oxygen by Netalie Braun, produced by Adi Bar Yossef (Israel). The Emerging Filmmaker Award was split between two projects: Iris (Cyprus) by Myrsini Aristidou, produced by Nathalie Dennes; and Sisters by Marianna Brennand Fortes and produced by Carolina Benevides (Brazil). Both with the generous support of the Beracha Foundation. A new additional prize this year is the FACTORY 54 Artistic Vision Award, was presented to Seven Chapters in Survival by Odeya Rosenak, produced by Marek Rozenbaum. Director of the Jerusalem Film Fund, Yoram Honig, spontaneously offered a new opportunity- each of the Israeli projects will be granted 4 sessions of mentorship with an inspiring figure of their choice in a cinematic discipline- music, design, cinematography- to forward their creative exploration. News Sam Spiegel Labs has a new director This year we are proud to welcome Mor Eldar as new director. She will commence her position in November, taking over from Aurit Zamir. Ms. Eldar is a seasoned content VP, with more than two decades of experience in senior management in the Film and TV industries. From launching and directing the Holon Cinematheque, through VP of programing and commissioning editor of films at YES Satellite TV and heading theatrical marketing and distribution at LEV Cinemas, she is highly experienced in content and strategy and will be a real asset to the JSFL.

News Big wins! The prize for Best Film in the Israeli competition of the TAU Student Film Festival was awarded to "Siba" by our student Donna Hawa. And the prize for Best Direction for an independent short went to alumna Hila Royzenman for her film "Motherland".

Awards Alum and teacher Nadav Lapid wins the Jury Prize at Cannes Nadav Lapid is an alum of both the School and the Lab as well as an esteemed teacher here. His big win at Cannes comes after becoming the first Israeli to win the Golden Bear at Berlinale 2020. Ahed's Knee also stars JSFS screenwriting alumna Nur Fibak.
